Pre Competitive Programs

4 years and up

Gymnasts in the Pre Competitive Programs are selected from Altadore’s Recreational Program (pre-school or recreational gym) and by try out process. The emphasis is to further develop a child’s strength, flexibility, agility, and overall body coordination. This program is an excellent building block for all sports. For children who choose to pursue gymnastics on a more serious level, Pre Competitive Programs will provide them with some of the essential basics needed. For those who later prefer to pursue another activity gymnastics will give them a great head start in any athletic or scholastic endeavor. Over the course of the year these gymnasts will be monitored in their development.

Provincial Programs

Age Range: 8 year and up

Athletes will go through a try-out/selection process each year. Athletes may enter the program during the year through a try-out/selection process by the Trampoline & Tumbling Head coach. Physical preparation is an integral part of this level, with emphasis also placed on skill development, body awareness, strength and flexibility. Gymnasts train on floor (power tumbling), full sized tramp and double-mini tramp. All athletes are required to complete compulsory and optional routines. Provincial Competitive categories A, B, or C are based on skill requirements.

National Programs

Athletes chosen to participate in the National Programs must demonstrate a very strong commitment to pursuing their gymnastics career. This is a performance-oriented program with the emphasis being placed on qualifying to represent Alberta at National Level Competitions. Athletes must demonstrate an ability to remain focused on a rigorous training regime. Top finishers in this program at the Canadian National Championships may have the opportunity to move into the Canadian National Team.
